Abstract
Introduction.
Following implant implantation, a stress-free healing time of 3-6 months is required to establish adequate osseointegration. If this time could be minimized, the patients would be pleased. Although instantaneous implant loading is a physiologically realistic idea, it is not always achievable. A few studies have indicated that a static magnetic field can help encourage bone growth quicker after a bone has been injured.
Aim
This pilot research aimed to assess tissue response following implant implantation under the influence of a magnetic field.
Materials & Methods
Twenty Tidal Spiral implants were utilized in this investigation. Each patient had two implants implanted in the front mandible, one for the B area and one for the D region. The implant on the D region was subjected to a magnetic field utilizing a safer magnet (Neodymium Boron Iron), while the implant on the B region acted as the control. At days 0, 30, 60, and 90, both implants were assessed for stability using a Resonance Frequency Analyzer (RFA). The mean Implant Stability Quotient (ISQ) values were compared on both sides using the student paired t-test and repeated measures ANOVA (analysis of variance). There was a substantial difference in mean ISQ values, thus a post-hoc test was performed to see if there was any change between the follow-ups.
Results
The average ISQ value for implants at day 0 in the B and D areas was 68.6 and 68.7, respectively. On the magnetic side (D area), the average ISQ values at the 30th, 60th, and 90th days were 73.25, 76.05, and 78.95, respectively. On the non-magnetic side (B area), the values at the 30th, 60th, and 90th days were 68.45, 72.05, and 74.45, respectively. Conclusion The implant stability quotient values on the magnetic side were much higher than those on the non-magnetic side. A positive link exists between magnetic field and osseointegration.
