The study analyzed 9982 studies on tooth extractions, removing 6038 duplicates and screening titles and abstracts. 122 papers were left after removing 83 articles due to non-compliance with inclusion requirements. Three studies were left for data synthesis, containing 1896 patients and 4396 extractions. The remaining studies had moderate, high, or low risk of bias. The study was conducted in Croatia, Greece, and Italy.

Results

In the beginning, 9982 studies were located: 96 in APA PsycINFO, 5208 in Embase, and 4678 in PubMed. 6038 studies were left after duplicates (3944) were eliminated. After screening titles and abstracts, 5916 research were eliminated, leaving 122 papers. These studies' reference lists were also examined for pertinent publications and unpublished papers. No other research was discovered. Following full-text screening, one item was eliminated because it was a review rather than an original study, two because it was a letter to the editor without data, and seventeen because of language. After contacting the authors, four studies were not retrieved. There was no contact information provided for two studies. A total of 83 articles were disqualified due to their failure to satisfy the inclusion requirements. More precisely, studies that reported complete mouth extractions (n = 3), included information on minors (n = 54), or indicated no age range (n = 9) were disqualified since it was unable to ascertain the reasons for extraction of each tooth in the latter example. Studies that included third molars (n = 3) were likewise disqualified. Our inclusion criteria were not fully met by four more studies, for example, because of the age range or the uncertainty surrounding the inclusion of third molars or children under the age of 18.The raw data from the research was requested from the corresponding authors of the aforementioned papers.

These studies were omitted because three authors failed to reply to our inquiry despite our repeated emails, and one author said that they no longer had any raw data. in seven pieces that were not included. Two publications lacked enough information to make inferences, two others only included the patient's explanation for the extraction, and only a small number of reasons for extractions were stated or particular samples were utilized. Ultimately, three studies were left, and their complete texts were reviewed for bias. Of the remaining studies, one had a moderate risk of bias, two had a high risk of bias, and none had a low risk. As a result, three trials were left for data synthesis, which may comprise 1896 patients and 4396 extractions in total. Three studies were conducted: one in 1995 in Croatia, one in Greece from 2007 to 2010, and one in Greece from 2004 to 2009. Table 2 summarizes the features of the investigation.
